BARRIO TIGER Los Angeles 2009, brings the action to Europe this spring 2017, so pay attention… BARRIO TIGER sound is a mix between la mano cornuda of Supersuckers and white light, white heart, white trash of Social Distortion, Founding members Calixto Hernandez and gunslinger Jimmy James (THE HANGMEN, JUNKYARD) handle the vocals and dual guitar attack, while the rhythm section consisting of Pete Lyman on bass and Mark Benquechea on drums hold down the backbone of group. Together these four guys are a staple in the new movement of the garage punk n’ roll scene that’s taking form around Los Angeles and are set to release their debut full length, Ave Maria.
Ave Maria is no Hail Mary! This is a furious sonic assault consisting of ten of full throttled guitar rockers, and anthemic, shout along choruses (“Let’s Play Dumb”, “Dying To Live”) so get hip to it. Raw riffs and hooks from Calixto and Jimmy echo the classic dual guitar sounds of Thin Lizzy by way of the Supersuckers. Their incendiary live shows have been captured in high fidelity form and fitting production style compliments of producer/engineer Ian MacGregor at Greg Wells’ (producer for Adele, Katy Perry) Rocket Carousel studios in Culver City and BT’s own Grammy award winning (Chris Stapleton, Jason Isbell) bass player Pete Lyman at the mastering helm over at Infrasonic Mastering. Below is a sample of what the press has to say about Barrio Tiger and their new album, Ave Maria!!!
